Spice Drops

This is another micro mini at 2.5x3.5". I've wanted to paint these sugary candies for some time now, but haven't had the guts. It's the deceptively simple things that are so hard to paint.

Hello Bunny

This candy resembles Hello Kitty. It's a micro mini at 3.5x2.5".

Easter Treats

I bought a package of Easter candy to paint. They're really too cute to eat, but my daughter ate two of them. She said they didn't taste very good. A micro mini at 3.5x2.5".

A Touch of Gray

Sold
Here's the picture I planned on doing of Jerry Garcia. I painted it from a black and white photo and I added the colors intuitively. I was a dead head way back n high school, so I've been on a nostalgia trip all day... thinking of other trips and such like. Blogger is showing the colors with too much red. I have no idea how to fix that, but it'll be my next technical task. Did I mention that my favorite Dead albums are Europe 72 and Blues for Allah.
I listened to The Uncommon Appeal of Clouds for a while and then Europe 72 while painting this.

Working Class Hero

Sold
I enjoyed painting the Einstein challenge so much, I thought I'd do a couple more portraits. I wanted a warmer black and white though, so I used torrit grey, which turns out to be a nice brown. I mixed it with ivory black and titanium white. I like the color much better for a monochromatic look. I mixed strings of color and worked on getting the values and a likeness. Thanks for looking!
I listened to A Tale of Two Cities while painting this.

Einstein

This was a DPW challenge. It was fun to paint partly because I made strings of values and concentrated on making marks and getting a likeness. I missed the boat on the likeness, but I haven't done a portrait in forever and I'm going to give my self a pass. I want to do a John Lennon and a Jerry Garcia next.
