Lemon Peeled

This is the second citrus painting of the week, inspired by the DPW's challenge. The orange in the shadows is a bit brighter on the screen than in real life.
I listened to La's Orchestra Saves the World by Mc Call Smith while painting this.

Building Sand Castles

I took this picture about ten years ago in Rhode Island. I just loved that this sophisticated old lady in her black hat and suit was playing in the sand with the grand kids.

Peeled

I was inspired to paint this by the DPW's weekly challenge, which was to paint citrus. I decided to paint the peel like a ribbon. I really enjoyed creating the bumpy textures. I add clove oil to my paint to keep it wet for a long time and so this will look more evenly toned after I give it a layer of varnish, which I'll do in a couple of weeks. Maybe I'll post this along with the new image for comparison.
I listened to The Brutal Telling while painting this.
