Peony

I meant to practice painting metal, but the flower was already in the vase and I decided to keep it. I want to paint some more metal objects and start drawing more regularly. This painting is oil on masonite and it's 8x10." $100.00 plus s/h.
While painting this picture I listened to Ha Jin's book, A Good Fall. This is a dour book of short stories that are read by different readers. The stories are realistic portrayals of Chinese people who've emigrated to the states and their circumstances. I'll finish listening to the cds, but I won't rush out to get another of his books.
Happy new year!

Buddha

This painting is an old one that I reworked in grisaille. I have another week off and I was thinking that I should try to finish all the paintings that I've been unable to resolve this past year, which is about 5, or maybe I should just let sleeping dogs lie. Have a bonfire? Get on with things...

Nutcracker II

How did nutcrackers end up looking like hippie soldiers and isn't that an oxymoron anyway?
This painting is oil on masonite, 6x6" and $100.00 plus s/h.
(I'm still listening to Cordoroy Mansions  and I'm still reading The Man from St. Petersburg, which is now reminding me of Downton Abbey. Not a bad thing. Why am I writing about books on my painting blog....

Trio

I've been inspired by some of the paintings on the DPW site to paint a persimmon. It was fun to paint but I haven't eaten it yet and it's probably too late. This painting is 8x8" oil on stretched canvas and $100.00 plus s/h. Also, I found a new series by McCall Smith called Corduroy Mansions, which I listened to while painting this. I'm also reading The Man from St. Petersburg by Ken Follett, which is really good but heavy after reading so much McCall Smith. It puts me in mind of Anna Karenina. I'll see as I'm only on page 12...

Homegrown

This painting is oil on canvas and 5x7" @ $100.00 plus s/h. Thank you.

Citrus

I have a hybrid fruit tree that produces lemons, limes, grapefruits and oranges and it's now mature enough to be producing, only it's mystery fruit and so far inedible. I probably need to fertilize. The yellow lemon is from the store. This painting is  $100.00 plus s/h and 6x8" oil on canvas.

Fall

I listened to The Comforts of a Muddy Sunday, by McCall Smith while painting this. At this point I think I've read about everyone of his books, so good. I need another author. Any suggestions?
The painting is $100.00 plus s/h.
